Feeling sad and anxious sitting at this busy airport by myself; suddenly caught in an immediate down being away from Dennis and the baby. I’ve been walking around for an hour, breathing deeply, trying to escape the feeling of absolute dread that just filled my stomach without warning. I don’t know how anxiety works. I don’t know why it suddenly arrives - it has no rhyme or reason. Everything is fine. I’m just flying to a place I’ve been many times before to spend the night at a hotel. Tomorrow morning I’ll be home, hugging my family. But it’s there. The dread. Like something terrible is about to happen. I sit down at the gate, waiting to board, trying to figure out why I’m feeling like this when my mom texts me. “Is everything ok? Has something happened?”. It’s the middle of the night for her so I know she’s just woken up, feeling that same kind of dread, and she is checking in. ⁣ ⁣ Nothing has happened. Everything is fine. But I wonder how much of anxiety is generational. How much is energetic. How much is old; how much is new. How much of it is real. ⁣ ⁣ I don’t know. So I just sit here.
