It probably didn’t look like much - drinking tea, reading, cuddling Ringo. I cleaned out my closet and got rid of 6 bags of clothes. Baked a lemon-thyme cake. Watched a movie. Practiced some yoga. Cooked a big pot of chili. Went for a run. Also, got thrown up on (just a little). ⁣ ⁣ All in all, a very regular, nothing-special, just-us-at-home kind of weekend. I used to take it for granted; time spent at home doing nothing. Always on my way out the door, always planning the next big thing. But the more I think about it, and the more I practice being content and present right where I am, the more I’m beginning to realize that these are the moments that I’ll look back at when I’m old and grey. I’ll remember this - the calm. The time spent baking, eating, talking. Watching my daughters face light up in the same scene of that same movie we have watched together so many times. Putting band-aids on her teddy bears. Telling my husband about my day. Drinking the tea. Cleaning the kitchen. Walking the dogs. ⁣ ⁣ It’s this - this, right here - that makes a life.
