Like you all I’ve been so saddened by the amount of animals (over 1 billion) that lost their lives in the fires. I was offered a tour at @currumbinwildlifehospital to visit the little animals (all native wildlife), some burn victims and learn how they treat, rehabilitate, and release them back to the wild.
2019 was the busiest year on record with 12,198 admissions.

I am touched to learn that this incredible hospital stays afloat with simply community donations and support of volunteers. One of the busiest hospitals in the world.
In 2008, there were 27 koala admissions, but in 2019: 600 koala admissions.
Of course, in these turbulent times they will need so much support to maintain their work. At least 500 animals have been treated since the start of the bushfires and they expect the admissions to rise further as the dry conditions continue to impact native wildlife.
