With the years I have learned more and more about food and nutrition. Some of these things I wish I would have known earlier but better late then never. 😉
I never really gave it the right amount of attention. For me it was never about leaning out or for aesthetics but making sure I was getting the nutrition I need for recovery and feeling good.
No matter what level of training you do - we should all know and understand where we are getting our energy from and what our body needs versus what it desires.
For the past years I have been following @rpstrength to help me optimize my nutrition. The biggest changes I had to make and which made a big difference for me was more carbs around and during my training and a lot smaller portions of protein.
“𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐞” often motivates people to make drastic changes and attempt to adopt new habits that stray far from what they are used to.
They key is not to make drastic changes from one day to the next but gradually adopt new behaviors that will gradually become habit. 🧘
Here is something actionable:
Pick one thing every week that you KNOW will lead to a healthier YOU. At the end of every day, write down if you were successful and if you failed to keep your promise, then write down the reason why you ended up giving in. Knowing your own triggers will give you a much better chance to avoid those in the future and you’re more likely to make new behavior, HABIT.
I hope this gives you some ideas and helps you figure out what works the best for you 👊
