This is Otis. He is our guest over Thanksgiving. Me and him are equally confused as to why he is here. Apparently, Mike agreed to dog sit for a friend over the holiday. This means taking him to Grammy’s for dinner Friday night and let’s just say, this is not my mother’s favorite idea. Mazzy is beyond excited because she’s been begging for a dog for over a year. Mike says this is a test to see how responsible Mazzy is willing to be. I told Mike that if Otis scratches one of our new built-ins, I am going to pay to get them redone again, even if this wipes us out of our savings entirely, and he will have no one to blame but himself. The girls first wanted Otis to sleep in their room, but quickly changed their mind once they saw how interested he is in their American Girl doll accessories. To distract him, Harlow sacrificed a few stuffed animals by throwing them in the hallway. It worked. Otis fell instantly in love with Gidget from My Secret Life of Pets. Harlow now refers to Gidget as his girlfriend. They have grown disturbingly close and Gidget will definitely be leaving with Otis at the end of the weekend. So far, I must admit, Otis has been an excellent guest and Mazzy’s palpable joy is making a good case for a dog. Although, I was the one who got up to walk him this morning, which is a pretty good indication of who this will fall on with a real pet. I woke up Mazzy to come with me and told her it was her job to pick up the 💩. She didn’t argue. About two minutes into our very first dog walking experience, Otis caught a rat in his mouth, Mazzy got scared and dropped the leash and I nearly had a heart attack. There is video. 🐀😵☠️ Thankfully, it got loose and all was fine, except I want to die and we may have to move out of the city. 💁🏻‍♀️ The kids are out with Poppy right now and Mike had to run some errands, so I am currently sitting on my kitchen floor with Otis asleep, leaning against my leg. Every time I move, he wakes up and gives me the saddest face. So here I sit. It feels nice.
