The other day, I had @pattiquintero from @umamother check me for Diastasis Recti. In this video she demonstrates how to tell, and the best way to lay down and get up to help it recover (turn the volume up). Now that I’m entering 4 months postpartum, I really want to get back into some postpartum recovery yoga not only for the physical benefits, but mainly for the incredible MENTAL benefits I gain from it. Knowing if I DID get pregnancy abdominal separation is really important for me so that I can tailor my practice to what my body needs at this stage of my life. As much as I’d love to get back into my old challenging Vinyasa yoga, I need to listen to my body first and help it recover. As it turns out, Patti checked me and I have only the slightest separation of the abs, 1-2 cms. Over the course of the next few weeks I’ll be uploading some gentle postpartum yoga content that will help me recover and I hope it can assist anyone else going through the same stage as me. Don’t forget, being kind to ourselves is priority!
