アギーさんのインスタグラム動画 - (アギーInstagram)「It was an incredible honor to visit Saudi Arabia six months ago well before the country opened its borders to the world. ::::: I didn’t get paid to come or was told to say something specific (positive or negative). I was invited to ‘come and see for myself’. I was showed around by local, super educated women who were happy to answer any questions I had. ::::: I asked them if there’s anything that they want me to relate to the Western world and they all said the same thing: tell them, we’re not that scary. That we want people to visit, we want other men and women to see our culture that’s thousands of years older than the laws we have in place right now. We want to be a part of the world, too. ::::: I grew up in post-communist Poland where we just opened borders previously closed to the foreigners for many many years. Our family always welcomed new international visitors in our home and I remember my grandma always said to them: thank you for visiting us, thank you not assuming things about our people, we are just like everyone else, wanting happy families and connect. ::::: I remember feeling grateful not to be ‘forgotten’ and judged by those curious souls who decided to come and visit my country for themselves. ::::: And that’s why I visited Saudi Arabia. Because I MYSELF used to be on the other side of the spectrum — being born in a country that was looked down upon by the Western world. ::::: So for whoever decides to visit Saudi anytime soon, I want you to enjoy the responsibility of being the bridge between cultures.
