Today The Prince of Wales visited the Netherlands to attend commemorative events for #Arnhem75. The airborne operation, which is today considered the largest in history, consisted of over 35,000 British, American and Polish paratroopers landing behind enemy lines in Arnhem by parachute and glider.

His Royal Highness began the day with a service at Ginkel Heath with HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands. During the service, paratroopers, including members currently serving in @theparachuteregiment, of which HRH is Colonel-in-Chief, dropped onto the heath. Their Royal Highnesses also had the opportunity to meet a number of veterans, who fought in the battle 75 years ago.

Later, His Royal Highness attended a service for the 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade, who #onthisday in 1944, were dropped in Driel to support the Allied troops. The Prince also visited St. Eusebius Church, which has been restored following heavy damage during the battle, and the Airborne Memorial at Oosterbeek, at which The Prince, in his role as Colonel-in-Chief, met members of the @armyaircorps. #Arnhem75
