Nailed it. 👏 The members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team know their worth ― and they’re not backing down from the ongoing equal pay fight against the U.S. Soccer Federation. ⚽️ “We won’t accept anything less than equal pay,” Megan Rapinoe said during an interview on “Good Morning America.” “We show up for a game. If we win the game, if we lose the game, if we tie the game, we want to be paid equally, period.” // 📷: Getty Images

"It’s amazing how much a game like kicking a ball can change your life. Our lives are forever changed after seeing women kick a ball. We were struggling in life but watching women kick a ball really made us wake up and try harder. Kicking a ball has ended poverty and starvation, kicking a ball has ended all wars. Kicking a ball has ended racism, it has ended hate and violence. There is no more school shootings because of kicking a ball and we don’t have to worry about crime anymore because kicking a ball has changed everything. This whole time that the United States was in constant struggle, who knew kicking a ball would solve every problem ever. Thanks kicking a ball." - United Spot

@doctor_one_by_two from 2016-2018 the women’s team brought in $50.8mil in revenue while the men’s team brought in $40.9 mil in revenue. And that’s with substantially less money spent by the US Soccer Federation on marketing for the women’s team vs the men’s team. Which is an issue that the suit also targets. If there were more marketing efforts made, the women’s team would bring in even more money. Even though as it stands, they already earn more money for the US Soccer Federation than the men’s team.

@annienotoakley The women get a higher percentage of the championship award money than the men in the men’s World Cup. And the men’s World Cup brought in 3.6 billion viewers as opposed to 800+ million viewers for the women’s World Cup. So, the demand is a lot less therefore the total payout is a lot less. The women have a chance of making more then the men (since they receive a higher percentage of the payout) if the demand of watching the women’s World Cup increases.

Shouldn't the pay be in entertainment field who brings the dollars in. I never found a man or woman because of their name excited me. It was those that brought it all together. Actor or actresses should just be compensated equally on their need to story. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th pay to scale then offer other opportunities depending on projects profits. Sports players on performances, same as men. What really makes a team or player win, or attract an audience?

@doctor_one_by_two the lawsuit isn’t against FIFA which runs the World Cup. It’s against the Us Soccer Federation. The men’s World Cup generates way more revenue, this is true. But their suit is not against FIFA. The women’s team has generated more revenue than the men’s team by almost $2mil from 2016-18 with less marketing efforts made on the part of the US Soccer Federation which is another thing the suit targets.
