Photo by @Cristina Mittermeier | I was ready to drop my cameras and spring to the rescue as I watched fishermen fight to keep their boat upright as they approached the shore of the historic fishing town of Winneba, Ghana. Thankfully my heroics were not needed, but despite the incredible amount of effort they put into today’s haul, they will not have great economic reward. The odds are stacked against them because there is no means to preserve their catch. What isn’t sold at the local markets is thrown away or sold at a very low cost, placing struggling families under even more economic strain and at risk of selling their children into slavery under the false promise of a better life. Follow me @Cristina Mittermeier for more stories about people living in coastal communities all over the world. #Ghana #fishermen #community #sailboat

Our fishing coast mostly struggle in landing their canoes. Some loose their catch as a result of landing. We have as lot of interesting sites and festivals in Winneba that you might visit. Am a director of an NGO that is working on poverty and employment in Winneba. Find us to partner us on unitypowergroup.org facebook/instagram-unitypowergroupwinneba mail -

Que desgarrador hay tantos países en crisis incluyendo el mío, sin embargo seguimos tan ajenos a los problemas que afrontan los pequeños pescadores, agricultores, productores, es hora de consumir y apoyarlos desde donde cada uno se encuentre...

In the old days they would salt and dry the fish to preserve them, they have the salt and can do it if they had the info from elders, humans can survive most any situation with some thought and knowledge from past generations

Birth control is the planet’s only truly effective solution to every problem we’re facing. Start promoting real solutions and stop with the band aids.

This is exactly where we’re headed on our Cape to Cape expedition! But first: The Faroe Islands. Should be epic. 🤙😉
