Many people burn trash because there is no other option to get rid of their waste. When I first visited Nicaragua, I was taken aback by the smell and sight of trash in contrast to the beautiful countryside. Remember to reduce, reuse and recycle, especially if you are fortunate enough to live in a country with a free and consistent waste disposal system.
