Rangiroa is the largest atoll of the archipelago and often teeming with reef sharks, which regularly swarmed our kayaks but never disturbed us when we paddled through here for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. Sharks are apex predators and although they are one of the oldest vertebrates on the planet, their populations are in critical decline due to warming seas, bycatch, marine pollution and illegal fishing.
