カーリー・ウォパットさんのインスタグラム写真 - (カーリー・ウォパットInstagram)「Waupaca 2019 champs in sand, and second place for grass 3s! 🥇🥈 A week ago, @katiespieler asked me if I would be willing to fill in as her partner for this crazy tournament in Wisconsin. I knew nothing about it. But cows, big fields, and volleyball?! Obviously I couldn’t say no. Katie and I were 14 & 12 years old the last time we played a tournament together. I guess good things never die, because our games meshed together beautifully, and we went on to win the whole dang thing. On Friday, we started the sand tournament at 8 AM and finished at 11 PM under the bright lights, surrounded by the rowdiest crowd. We played 6 full matches - basically an entire AVP tournament - in the span of one day. It was the grindiest of grinds, but knowing Katie.. we both were ALL in. And it sure did feel good to finish victorious. A few hours of sleep later, we were back at Brighton Acres, ready to run it back all over again.. but this time on GRASS playing TRIPLES with the stud addition of @deahnak. None of us have ever played grass 3s, yet we learned quickly, and found ourselves in an epic final against the reigning champs. We lost in 3 sets 14-16 in the third, and now we are already plotting and strategizing on how to improve our grass game for next year. It has taken three days to recover, but @waupacaboatride has officially earned a special place in my heart. The people, the atmosphere, the FUN.. Waupaca knows what volleyball is all about! Thank you to the tournament organizers for putting on such an incredible event. And thank you to all the amazing spectators, fans, and new friends!
