Was the year after I missed making the Olympic team right there, in the same rink. I remember stepping into that podium with a full stadium and a bunch of kids screaming my name, in many ways that competition was a redemption for myself. In 2013 the Universiade in Trento was a challenge cause it was just a month before leaving to the Olympics and I was suggested not to go cause it would make me tired but I didn’t want to miss the feeling of “competing at home” after what I experienced 7 years before in front of my crowd. I wanted to step onto that podium again, for my country. It was the perfect send off before SOCHI2014. Last week, in Naples, during the opening Ceremony of the 30th Summer Universiade I was in the Crowd, as a member of the Athletes Comission of the Italian Olympic Commitee. We, as a team, have the responsibility to spread the Olympic Values and give support to the athletes with ideas and new projects. To “give back” and cheer on the next generation is as powerful as to be standing on that podium.
