A few years ago I was visiting my brother in Boston. We went to a restaurant in one? of the clipboard neighbourhoods in Cambridge. It was sweltering and families had come out into their front lawns, pitcher, and backyards, spread blankets and unfolded lawn chairs. Trying to catch a cool breeze and have a gab about how hot it is and isn't it a shame we don't have a fan. And how they meant to buy one at the hardware store or supermarket, but never got around to it. That's summer in the city to me.

At first glance it looked to me like the woman was holding her handbag up and of the water, but love that it’s actually a passing truck. Could never have survived life in NYC sans air-con! I remember the big brown out of 2003 was it? All the air-con went down and everyone was hanging out together in the streets, on stoops, on rooftops, walking across bridges... we were hot but we were communal, Baby!

My skin complexion is very dark and I sweat easily (and a lot) so I can’t imagine the horror of living in any warm climate without an AC for relief. Needless to say, this was an excellent read!
