I like traditions as much as anyone but when my friends expect the usual hot dogs and hamburgers for July 4th, sometimes I like to shake things up. This year, I’m making my Watermelon Mojitos, Grilled Herbed Shrimp with Mango Salsa, Panzanella, and - just to have a little tradition! - my classic Flag Cake for dessert. It's an easy, summery menu I can make mostly in advance, so all I have to do is throw the shrimp on the grill just before dinner! What are you making for the 4th of July?? jax_creations Hamburgers & hotdogs Sweet & hot skinny sausage on the BBQ Chicken skewers & chicken wings marinated with lemon & pepper Cold chickpea salad, broccollini with garlic & oil & broccoli rabe Tomato salad Potato’s with olive oil , salt & pepper & fresh parsley (Grandma’s recipe ) Peppers with bread crumbs & capers Cole slaw ( 1st time making it ) Dessert - homemade rice pudding Yogurt pie with a graham cracker crust!! theparishouse @inagarten I came home from Canada the day before the Fourth of July with a houseful of people to cook for to celebrate my husbands 55th bday - I made everything on this post, not only was it all super easy but also delicious! The cake was fabulous! ❤️❤️❤️🍉🍉🥂🌿🇺🇸

cmuree I’m taking to our family cookout chicken tenders marinated in James Beard recipe for teriyaki sauce for the grill, Mediterranean slaw(a family favorite ) and trying for the first time your Grilled Herb Shrimp! Can’t wait! ????

thirstytraveler14 Ina - are the 3-4 thick slices of watermelon full large slices or half slices from a medium watermelon? Want to make these ASAP for my birthday on the 5th. Thank you and happy 4th!!
