As a human family, we might just have an inflated sense of self. Maybe it's a developed arrogance or maybe its innate. Regardless, the impact we inflict is undoubtedly severe. As more and more species go extinct in our wake of "progress", our footprint gets amplified. But I am also hopeful. It's not hard to see the tireless reclamation always taking place around us. It can be seen as a living testament to our integral part of nature, countering the beliefs of many that we are apart from nature. @voice6064 such a great question. It's hard to balance that, isnt it? Plastic is a MAJOR issue globally and its one that I'm passionate about. When you look around you, how much plastic do you see? Its everywhere! It's not just water bottles and straws. It's literally everywhere. While reducing the use of single use plastics is a massive step in the right direction, reimagining the production chain of plastics and educating en masse re. consumer behavior will, in the long run have a far greater impact. Look into @loopindustries & @plasticbank. The reason I chose to partner with a company like @evianwater is because they're the first and only company in their space to commit circular production chain and a carbon neutral existence and celebrate technologies that are available to actually change the plastic story. I believe strongly that companies like Evian that are leading the charge and investing everything to be zero impact should be noticed because its companies of their size that will actually move the dial. It's not just @evianwater either, it's their parent company Danone. I see that one could simply argue that I'm still selling water bottles. That's true...but I'd sure as hell rather a consumer use a circular bottle from a carbon neutral company than a water bottle from another company spewing filth into the air and ocean. I do not believe that we will live in a plastic free world...it is too pervasive and too useful. From the phone you hold in your hand to the car you drive or even the bike you ride, it's part of our world...and in many cases, it actually makes our lives better, safer, and longer. I know your gripe is primarily with single use plactics... and it's a damn valid gripe at that. With that said, how we create, how we consume it, and our collective behavior around its disposal is the key element that we miss when we reduce the conversation to water bottles and straws. Like I said, it's a good start, and great awareness...but in the long run it changes far less than technology that dissolves the impact. Hope that answers your question. ?

@coryrichards Excellent take on the challenges facing us with plastic waste. We believe deeply in what we are doing and are excited to be leading the way in reuse and reduction, but also believe that there are other changes in habits and behavior (and business models) that will need to be embraced for us to all move globally from a linear consumption model to sustainable circularity. @plasticbank is right ... Education is key, so thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Dude, I'm looking at an ad for packaged water in which you're described as a "conservationist." Do you not see the contradiction there? That water requires enormous amounts of carbon to extract, package, and distribute. It's not merely about plastic bottles, it's also about shipping single-use water bottles to places with exceptionally good public water systems. Like what the fuck, man?

@coryrichards Thank you for your support and taking the time to fully explain the issue??. Education is key to tackling the issue and we are doing this in all of the countries we operate. We are also hopeful for new technologies that will simplify the recycling loop.

How strange that my last post is of a very similar subject though naturally different commentary. ???
