Bowel babes 💩
A lil reminder that scars and stoma bags should make you feel awesome not ashamed 😎 They show that life threw you one hell of a curveball and you survived it 👏🏼
I couldn’t be happier that the beautiful @billieandersonx is a model for @staywildswim and got to wear our pieces with pride 👙🌍💙

@zannavandijk no disrespect meant! ? I follow Stay Wild and often like posts on that account as well as your main. Following you (as well as other influencers who have been starting sustainable brands) has been changing the way I look at fast fashion in a way I never gave much thought to before (we have *many* cheap, overstock clothing stores in my town). I think swimwear especially is seen as disposable given that it’s usually worn more often for a few months and then ditched the next summer season in favor of a new style. Perhaps now is also a good time to take a harder look at all the accounts I’m following in general and who/what my time (in the form of stopping and liking) is actually supporting, instead of missing or scrolling past meaningful content from a person/small company that is *actively* working towards change with its entire business model.

@zannavandijk I just watched all your bowel journey snaps. I’m absolutely stunned by how strong you were the entire time. It’s miraculous. Just shows how much one person can take. Healthcare is HOLY MOLY, out of this world what our health care teams can do. @healthychefsteph I can’t believe how amazing your friend steph is. She seemed to keep you grounded in such a scary time. I pray for someone like that in my life. Zanna and steph... you two are ABSOLUTELY role models? main account: alicec0le

Love this. I had a scoliosis correction 10 years ago and have a large scar right around my side and up my back. I hated it for years but now have learned to love it, i actually really like it when people ask me about it and don’t feel self conscious about it anymore. Don’t feel disheartened by people not liking and commenting on your status, most people don’t understand things that are different so don’t engage. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s brilliant x

@zannavandijk and what I failed to say in the previous response was: you’re absolutely right - I should have dropped a like on that photo as someone who has every intention of supporting the business and what it stands for. Intentions are all well and good, but they gotta be backed up with action otherwise it’s all pretty much for naught.

Thank you for sharing this. I have six smaller surgical scars (not from bowl surgery although it has affected my bowls!) that are visible in a bikini and you know what I often forget they are there because I just got on with it! I hope this inspires more to feel empowered, proud and confident after their curveballs xx

Love this! Such an important message it took me a long time to accept my scars and feel comfortable in my skin again after a lot of bowel surgery and - a temporary stoma (Betsy), I won’t lie at times this is still a struggle but posts like this help me remember that I own my scars they don’t own me ☺️
