Joseph on Graduation Day 2016 at The Royal College of Art. #royalcollegeofart #rca #fathersandsons Now he’s studying computer coding. I tried that for four weeks and managed to get my browser to argue with me. But not much more.

I tried coding back in 1989 on a big-iron HP. The screen only displayed green text on a black background. I had to help a programmer enter a program that sorted data to two additional categories that it was my bright idea to add. Eight hours of waiting for some illumination to stoke my interest further along, but it never came. Drudgery only. It takes some tenacity to code, so kudos to all of you blessed with that flavor of deep focus.

Smart boy! Like father, like son. Like someone else here, I took a computer course my freshman year in 1980. I tried to learn FORTRAN. Our programs were on punch cards! I think I dropped mine and eventually said “f- this!” ???

One of my daughters is employed doing coding. I took FORTRAN language computer class in 1976. The computer was as big as the room, using punch cards. I listened to Who's Next instead. Did me better.

What a proud moment. Each time our children reach a new plane, enter a new phase in life, it is like we grow with them. Congrats @yaggerdang on a an amazing journey

Hey Pete. How much do you rely on technology for songwriting these days? I know you compared a few classics based around synth loops etc back in the day?

Hi Pete. I went to art school for three years and wrote my final dissertation on The influence of The Who in popular culture. It was good!
