Photo by @daisygilardini | A fisheye lens is an ultra-wide wide-angle lens that creates a strong hemispheric distortion. It allows for very tight focus on the subject, but with great depth of field. I occasionally like to use this effect, especially in the Polar Regions when photographing sea ice. The distortion creates a natural "globe" effect that helps me emphasize the message that our world is melting. Besides adding drama to your image, the tight focus of a fisheye lens can also be used for funny portraits, of both animals and people.
