Our second day in the canyon revealed even more magnificent waterfalls and long hikes along the river.  We walked through more lush, tropical flora, including wild vines climbing up the canyon walls. We shimmied down some frighteningly steep ladders and crossed thigh deep creek water. We navigated a maze of trails and nearly lost one iPhone to water damage. But we made it to Beaver Falls and back just before the torrential rains came.  The rest of the afternoon was spent hiding out in the tent, praying the creek wouldn't flood and force evacuation. It wasn't how I imagined the trip going, but I was grateful for the time to relax and read my book (something I don't often allow myself).⁣ ⁣ The next morning we woke up to hike out only to discover the remainder of our food had been ransacked by squirrels. Knowing quite well that we couldn't make the 10 mile hike out without food (and COFFEE!), we packed up and headed to the village of Supai in hopes that we could score some breakfast at the market, which we did. Armed with granola bars and saltine crackers, we hoisted our packs on and cruised on out of there.
