Photo by @andrea_frazzetta | A view of the city of Palermo from the terrace of the Palazzo Ganci di Valguarnera, Sicily’s most famous palazzo. This is where the great director Luchino Visconti filmed parts of “The Leopard,” a movie based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s iconic novel about the Sicilian aristocracy during the upheavals of the Risorgimento. The palazzo has hosted many European monarchs over the decades and today is home to descendants of the nobles who have owned it since the 17th century.
