j_amicaa The hijab/ niqab are symbols of women’s oppression. Hijab in Arabic Literally means a barrier , I’m a Muslim, Arab woman and hijab has never been a choice for me. I have been forced to wear it. It’s so sad to see how western people normalize the hijab like it’s something normal. It’s not normal at all. Iranian women have been protesting against the hijab for years. An Ontario father killed his daughter because she refused to wear a headscarf. In Saudi Arabia, a girl who works as a model got arrested for simply wearing a skirt. In Sudan, there is religious police that tells women to wear an “ appropriate “ hijab. The very first symbolic act of the first Arab feminist “Huda Sharawi” was taking off her hijab as a sign of liberation and dignity and because of Huda Sharawi women in Egypt got the the right to vote and access education. An Egyptian feminist her name is Dr, Nawal AlSaadawi wrote many books on women emancipation. She stated in one of her interviews, “ hijab is something against morality why do women wear hijab but not men? What’s wrong with women heads? A woman’s head is her honor not a shameful thing that has to be covered forever” This is the real feminism. Even those women who claim they CHOSE to wear the hijab by themselves which is rare they wear the headscarf because of reasons 1- they are afraid of god’s punishment; they believe they might be burned in hell for exposing their hair. 2- They got brainwashed and mentally abused by men who convinced them that hijab represents modesty and morality and no one will harass her if she wears a headscarf which is a lie obviously because ( I wear a headscarf and I face harassment) 3- they believe it’s an obligation, so it’s not a choice when someone is obligated to do something it’s literally an emotional abuse. Women heads are the most important part of them . Why would they cover it? Why are we as Muslim women expected to cover our heads? Why don’t men cover their eyes instead? I don’t think god will leave starvation, violence, wars , rape , and injustice and focus on my hair. This is unfair. I don’t believe that we are too sexy for our hair.

a_bun_dance You can start taking back power from big corporations and stop the accepting the exploitation of those who can not stop it themselves by going vegan. You don't have to go 100%, you don't have to shout it off roof tops but by thinking and acting like a vegan when you open your mouth and your wallet you make an immediate difference! Veganism is about taking power back, not just for animals but for all of the people that have been robbed of their health and their natural resources to fill the pockets of very few special interests. We are those people!Big agro, big pharma, big oil all make enourmous profits from stealing our health, environment and the lives of helpless animals and selling it back to us. They fund the lies that keep us in the dark about how it impacts us and keep us coming back with our own money and they lobby heavily for ridiculous government subsidies that we also pay for with our taxes. We can stop supporting this NOW! Take your power back. Support local, vegan, real agro. Support business that invest in biodegradable packaging and eco and animal friendly pratices. Veganism and informed spending is about power and justice and is available to everyone, everyday, with every $ spent, no matter your age, race, economic status or gender. Don't believe the well-funded lies, it's cheaper and healthier and better for you and society.

alisa.helander I love how passioned she is but I font fully agree. I imagine getting lot of hate from what Im about to say but here it goes. I dont believe the problem is the white people who lead this companies but the people who use their products. Company isnt anything without its costumers. We people no matter the color of your skin provide these companies money for buying their products. Yes the companies are led by white men but we as consumers have the power to make a difference. We are many and they are just one.

rarivera97 She says 20% is responsible for the 70% of emmisions, referring to fossil fuel companies. Yet guess who keeps running this companies, people of color that consume fuel, Latinos that consume fuel, white people that consumes fuel, native Americans that consume fuel, pretty much anyone with a car. It really nice and easy to blame companies, but people don't realize that this companies wouldn't exist if it wasn't for consumers that keep demanding their products.

How do we bring awareness to very real connection between greedy white privileged in Canada and the lack of support for climate change. Please don’t stoop to the level of your fellows over extra cash flow. ??
