“There’s a moment of stillness where I have time to collect myself, and then it’s like screaming into a pillow,” said the dancer Gabrielle Hamilton of the dream ballet in Daniel Fish’s searing, moody “Oklahoma!,” currently on Broadway. Choreographed by @johnheginbotham, this dream ballet in no way resembles the one that Agnes de Mille created for the 1943 original musical. @hamilton_gabri is barefoot. She’s bald. She stands in front of audience members, staring at them boldly to break the fourth wall. And then there is her costume, a sparkly shirt (designed by Terese Wadden) that’s embellished with 3 words: “Dream Baby Dream.” Gabrielle doesn’t look like anyone else in the show. “I’m just naked — no hair, no layers, just me in a T-shirt,” she told the #nytimes writer @giadk. “It’s the most extravagant thing, but it’s just so minimal. I’m this entity of rawness.” @mosadek made this video for #SpeakingInDance, our weekly Wednesday series exploring the world of #dance.
