Photo by @kiliiiyuyan | The village of Gambell lies on Saint Lawrence Island in Alaska, in the middle of the Bering Sea. Gambell is closer to Siberia than Alaska, but its remoteness has not insulated its indigenous population, the Yup'ik, from massively declining sea ice. This remote place is a subsistence village, and without the sea ice, there are no walrus, leading to a major food crisis in 2017.
