This remote archipelago lies forty miles west of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The Atlantic rain was constant the week I was there, so I went out at night in the deep blue gloom to find the islanders sense of loss. This double #UNESCO site says much about how our shared legacy can touch us all –– and the urgent need to preserve it. #scotland #hebrides #ruins
