Photo by Gerd Ludwig @Gerd Ludwig | Dolls, like this one, arranged among gas masks have become standard motif for tourists visiting the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. In 2011, the Ukrainian government officially legalized tourism into the Zone. Today, the chilling ghost town of Pripyat is one of the biggest attractions, famous for its assemblies of children’s gas masks spread out on the floors of abandoned schools and kindergartens. To commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the world’s largest nuclear accident to date, I am posting photographs of the aftermath of the Chernobyl catastrophe on @Gerd Ludwig. @thephotosociety #Chernobyl #Pripyat #nuclear #doll #gasmasks
