Photo by @mborowick | Icelandic sheep, like this group here are only a few of about 800,000 in the country, which is more than double the human population. During the summertime sheep from all over the island run free and often travel great distances from where they began. In September, the farmers partake in Réttir, which is a nationwide roundup of all the sheep to return them to their original farms. This tradition has been taking place for more than 300 years and has become something of a tourism experience to those interested in Icelandic culture.
