One of the 1st things I learnt from my first trips to Augusta prior to the 2005 Masters was the importance of Rae’s Creek. The difference in speed if you are putting towards Rae’s Creek or putting away from Rae’s Creek is hard to believe!

On every green of my Masters yardage books, I mark where Rae’s Creek is, with a filled in circle. This is the 10th green at Augusta, the pin tomorrow will more than likely be back left and even tho from the middle of the green, you are putting uphill, the putt is sneaky fast!!

The greens so far this year have been really soft and a little on the slower side - I’m guessing as long as there is no rain, that sub-air system will be churning tonight, trying to dry out these greens and make them as fast as possible to test the nerves of the best players in the world. #talesfromaugusta

Been some great insight with this @lukedonald ... really enjoyed your thoughts and info this week ... hope to see you back there next year putting all this knowledge into another great week at the masters ... be great to have you back out there ... wishing you a fantastic and successful season

@lukedonald yep. All who caddie there have that dot in our book. 10 is a hard green to read for me. Most putts seem to gravitate toward the front left of that green, but the "dot" is something to always pay attention to.

Luke, are the green books available at the Masters for the pro’s, of is Augusta keeping it old school? Havent seen many players bumbling about with their Filofaxs out this week...

Which green at Augusta do you think is the most difficult? Ogilvy said 1 is the hardest—can’t get above the hole, but the false front challenges you to hit it pin-high.

what great insight. always thought of the Rae’s Creek influence as directional. never thought about speed. Thanks, Wildcat

With the amount of ungulation throughout the course, how particular are you with tee shot placement on the fairway?
