Photo by @andrea_frazzetta | Deep in the Jungar Alatau, a range of the Tien Shen Mountains between Kazakhstan and China, in a summer pasture, known locally as the yellow mountain. Most of the surviving herders in this part of Kazakhstan practice a form of semi-nomadism known as transhumance, alternating between winters in a village and summers in the mountains. Located in Central Asia, hugged by Russia on its northern border and China to the east, Kazakhstan is the ninth-largest country in the world, it has truly diverse landscapes and rich cultural history.
