Karl Lagerfeld took this portrait of me and Sean. He was such a weird, flawed, brilliant cartoon of a person. He always lied about his birth year, claimed his family were royalty (they weren’t) and saved Chanel when it was a dying brand in the 80’s- and used the interlocked C monogram as an iconic print for the first time. He was notorious for scandal like calling Adele “too heavy”, ? using real fur and even using a quote from the Qur’an for a campaign, which almost got a Fatwa put on him, haha. Although he wasn’t the nicest person (he was born in the 30’s so let’s cut his morals a little slack), he will always be remembered as a legend in fashion and culture and I hope this generation dying doesn’t signal the end of eccentricity.

Oh shit, now i feel terrible, yes he was as eccentric and weird as it got...but that was his element. From standing out of the real royals as mebtioned, he did so once while tell me he was Prince R.'s official haute couture to Grace and his children...Later Raineer said "hes like a nas varatu of seventies leftovers that he insist are the hottest trend and showers my daughters with dresses that haunt me of their mothers image." Thats how i became to truly see him the next few "encounters". He was as strange as Dali', yet knew how to pose for a camera as if it were directly meant for him, regardless of the blue bloods he often "haunted". Although weird, i mean took the cake kinda way weird. I always knew i was in good shape when he(of course with my undivided attention) tell me of the ancient cadamites of roam! He didnt care about the yachts we partied on, he did care about beauty! As weird as it sounds, Yes we needed people like him to keep the true essence of decadent fashion alive. Its not like Donnatella is doing anything half as cheeky or haughty on her most diva-esc of attemps! I still am shocked, i damn near thought he was the closest thing to a real vampire, but the sexy, suave, gay and glamourous one. Yes his stories were legend, and a couple bottles of Pierre Jouet would get him to recite them all! #seriousfashion,#oneofakind,#icon, #vampireofmonaco

Gorgeous and how lovely that you were able to meet him. I recall when I was doing runway (on a small scale— Tommy Hilfiger and only a few other time) in the mid 90s, I’d study his work and regard his shows as the one of my favorites. His interviews always fascinated me even as a young girl! 🖤

Dear Charlotte, you and Sean are proof that Karl‘s generation dying off will not be the end of eccentricity. Love you, keep up the weirdness. It gives me hope.
