In 1892, Paul Signac left Paris for Saint-Tropez, feeling disillusioned with the capital’s art scene and the city's growing industrialisation.⠀

At the harbour town, Signac discovered a peaceful haven of sunshine and sailing. This painting of the Saint-Tropez port was one of the first works he painted after his arrival.⠀
