STRETCHES FOR DESK WORKERS ??‍???‍? If you sit at a desk all day (at work or school) these stretches are a lifesaver!! ??? ?? Try this flow from start to finish holding each stretch for 10 long deep breaths... 1. PUPPY POSE Great for counteracting long periods of forward flexion of your spine (‘hunch back’ position). INHALE crawl your hands forward & EXHALE as you press chest down to the ground. TIP! >> Breathing is very important here! If you want to get deeper, place your chin on the ground and look at your hands. 2. TWISTED PUPPY POSE This gets deeper into your shoulders & lats. As you roll onto your side squeeze your ear to your arm. INHALE reach your extended arm forward & EXHALE sink your armpit down. TIP! >> Use the hard in front of your face to increase the stretch by pressing into the ground. 3. LYING TWIST Opens up the chest (especially tight pecs) & releases the spine. Place your arms in ‘cactus’ position the slide your elbows up about 10cm. Use the weight of your free leg to reach back and initiate the twist. TIP! >> Release your top arm for a deeper twist. 4. RECLINED PEC STRETCH A very deep release for the front of the shoulders. Fingers point towards your toes before you walk them back. Roll your shoulder back & down (press your chest to the sky) & bend your elbows. TIP! >> To maintain the stretch, keep pressing your chest up and then squeeze your elbows together! 5. SEATED NECK STRETCH A great way to release upper shoulder & neck tightness (your traps). Sit tall & use your hand to gentle tip your head. Pull your opposite shoulder AWAY from your ear to initiate the stretch. TIP! >> Flex your wrist and aim to press your palm down to the ground to get a deeper stretch. You can also bring your chin slightly to chest to get a stretch at the back of your neck. . Try this flow at the end of your day to release tension, distress & decompress your spine.
