Man, those are some strong mussels. These sea creatures are natural adhesives, which allows them to suction themselves to rocks, remain in place through brutal storms, and survive in an incredibly demanding environment. Scientist Jonathan Wilker studies how mussels, barnacles, oysters, and more make this glue. His goal is to figure out how to replicate it to create new technology, from non-toxic eyelash extensions to improved surgery methods to more fuel-efficient cars and planes.
