Guggenheim Security Supervisor, Robert—"In the mid 1800’s Monet and several other artists radically altered the space found in paintings. By emphasizing the brush stroke and enhancing color, the flatness of the support was emphasized, instead of hidden. By the early 1900’s Hilma af Klint emphasized the flatness in even more radical ways. Construction of the composition became diagrammatic, and she used mirroring compositional tactics in new ways.
