Photo by @ronan_donovan // The bond between mother and her offspring is arguably the strongest social bond that exists in the natural world. Whether it’s between humans or these guanacos from Chile’s Torres del Paines National Park, physical contact amongst social mammals is what solidifies their bond. It can be in the form of a nip from a disciplinarian or a reassuring nuzzle from mom. Either way, physicality plays a critical role to their survival. Species that live in a social group affords individuals with a higher rate of survival compared to being on their own. For guanacos, the benefit of a group is that there are many eyes on the lookout for pumas. Follow @ronan_donovan for more images from the world's wild places. #chile #torresdelpaine
