Photo @Keith Ladzinski / Sunrise over #EasterIslands iconic #AhuTongariki, the largest ahu on Easter Island. These moai were knocked over during a civil war on the island in the 20th century and later swept inland by a tsunami. It was eventually restored in an effort to preserve the history. There are fifteen #moai at this location, one of which is 86 tons, the heaviest ever erected on the island. Remarkable to think that an ancient civilization could erect something so heavy, a remarkable feet of engineering.
