Artist William Edmondson worked as a hospital janitor in Nashville, Tennessee, for over 20 years before starting his own stonecutting business.⠀

Over time, he began to carve freestanding sculptures of religious figures, people and animals. This piece, ‘Lady’, reveals his interest in the fashion and hairstyles of the women in his local community.⠀
