Photo by @PaulNicklen // These northern right whale dolphins came to check me out as they fed in the nutrient-rich waters off the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Like their namesake, right whales, they can be easily distinguished by their lack of a dorsal fin. Northern right whale dolphins tend to travel in large pods of hundreds of animals, which often include Pacific white-sided dolphins. They're the track stars of the ocean, able to swim over 40 kilometres per hour and leap up to 7 metres through the air. #FollowMe at @PaulNicklen for photos of sperm whales from my current expedition in Dominica. #BritishColumbia #dolphin #ocean #diving #underwaterphotography
