To make this project a reality took over two years and 5 trips. I’m grateful to Bob Costas for writing the most poetic and meaningful foreword, and to Sigfredo Barros a great baseball writer from Cuba for his insights into the history and culture of the sport. Baseball in Cuba is almost as old as baseball in the United States. In this photo young boys are playing with a ball made from a stone wrapped in paper and tape in the streets of Centro Havana.
