The Millbrook School is a 9 - 12th grade boarding school with a zoo on property that supplements their staff with students of the school & local volunteers. In the morning, the 'Zooies' as they're called arrive from the school for their daily community service, which includes feeding the animals, cleaning their exhibits, and checking in. Having a zoo on campus has endless benefits: In biology class, the students wander to the zoo and get a firsthand look at the animals they study. The older Zooies pull together research projects on the zoo animals that are used by scientists in the 'real world' to gain information that contributes to conservation & survival.

In this image, a senior is shown working with her red panda. She is exhibiting 'target training.' You can see the target in her hand, a device with a ball on the end and a button that cues a clicking sound. The animals are trained to touch their nose (or some other body part) to the target and when they do, the keeper makes the clicking sound and gives them a reward. The red pandas favorite reward are craisins. Target training is extremely helpful in order to get an animal to go where you need it: either for medical checkups, to clean their exhibit, or for any other reason you might need them in a particular spot.
