photo by @andrea_frazzetta // The fiery sky over the volcano Erta Ale. Erta Ale is the most active volcano in Ethiopia. Its ever-present lava lake is one of fewer than a dozen in the world.
The path to the summit lasts for about 5 hours. In the beginning, you proceed slowly, imperceptibly, but in the end, when you are almost at the top, you have to climb, exhausted. By nightfall everything around you becomes dark. The steps are slow. And the earth made of lava beneath your feet is a metallic mirror that reflects the light of the moon. I will never forget the last few meters that separate you from the edge of the volcano. The silence is absolute. You can feel your feet into the lava that creaks. A warm wind begins to burn your face. And the black sky becomes fiery.
