It may sound cliche but for me there is wisdom in this and a simple reminder worth digesting especially given that I’m a worrier by nature and so sensitive-hearted. Every strength has its potential for weakness but is not in and of itself a weakness. I like to think of it as a journey where we are given the opportunity to know how to wield our strengths towards the positive. Often the learning is met through our scrapes and stumbles but we’re always given the choice to get up and learn something and try again. If we lay in the ditch we fall in, we don’t get anywhere but if we get up and dust ourselves off and keep going, there is a new horizon waiting for us. The best things never come easy but as another cliche goes, we wouldn’t know the treasure or gift in what we’re given if we didn’t go through struggle to get there. Not that everything has to be a struggle but muscles don’t gain strength without being worked and it never feels natural to choose to work them. It winds us and makes us tired but we gain endurance in the process and learn that we had more strength than we realized as they’re worked. So today I’m taking this as a reminder to look forward to that horizon and that gruel and grit are not necessarily indicators of anything wrong but simply muscles and stride being strengthened and gained.
