Ok REAL TALK and I want YOUR input. A few people got offended that I spoke about net fishing so I feel we need to talk about that. Not just me, all of us. Together. I consider myself beyond lucky to have the opportunity, proximity and time to catch my own food. However, I do understand that it’s not given to everyone (it would be naive to think it’s a viable solution). Considering we are 7 billions on the planet, net fishing became not only a reality, but rather a sad necessity due to overpopulation. Do I like seeing net fishing? Of course I don’t, but it is the reality of food sourcing today and we have to deal with it. The first step, is to make it right and to change the practices in place for better ones (providing alternatives). Then we move on to educate people on what SHOULD be expensive, not eaten during certain seasons, prioritizing local fish, etc. I see a lot of people pointing the fingers at fishing practices but then making bad consumer decisions because of a craving. While denouncing bad practices is a good thing, your actions go way further. To make a real difference we need to TALK, we need to ACCEPT the reality and we need to find SOLUTIONS that are REALISTIC for the future, because in the end, the supply is there because there is a demand... It’s time to lift the curtain on food sourcing and honestly, if all you do is whine without taking actions, you’re also part of the problem. Sorry if I’m blunt, but we have no time to lose being scared of offending people anymore. What do you think? I will challenge arguments on here, don’t be offended 📷 @africanspearfishingdiaries #makeadifference #bethechangeyouwanttosee #consumesmart #discussionsarekey #letstalk #realtalk @wwf @mscbluefish @genova_seafood
