Small but mighty is a fitting title for the midget-faded rattlesnake. Like all rattlesnakes, they have excellent memories and are capable of making quick, sound decisions in any given situation. This can include an array of as many as nine different defense strategies. This species is small to mid-size and despite their modest stature, their venom is anything but! This species has a powerful venom that is up to 30 times more potent than some of the other species they're closely related to, with neurotoxic properties that are capable of incapacitating small prey in less than thirty seconds! The highest population of this species is in Eastern Utah and Western Colorado. Small populations can be found in Southern Wyoming Northern Arizona.
