Post 3/3: Yesterday I helped my colleague to deliver my very first baby. I even cut the cord! It feels so good to help mothers like this. The baby boy was born healthy and big, weighing 3.5 kilos! He was screaming but we wrapped him up nice and warm and he soon settled down. Every month hundreds of babies are born here in our clinic. We help them come into our world safely. Before going home, we spend a lot of time with new mothers to make sure they know how to breastfeed and that their babies get their first vaccinations. This little baby and her mother Aisha are about go home. Before they leave we make sure the birth is registered. They will come back and get their birth certificate in a few weeks. It is truly my dream to work with new babies and their mothers in my community. These are my people, I love them.
