This morning I saw a post in my area from an animal lover who found a cat and was hoping to reunite him/her with the owner.
I bought a universal microchip scanner/reader last year for this purpose so I went to his house absolutely sure this 4 paw declaw, seemingly purebred cat would be chipped.
To my disappointment the cat was not microchipped. He/she (just going to say “he”) is super friendly and I know someone must be missing him. I’m taking him to the vet in a little while to confirm gender, get approx age, gets some matting in his coat taken care of, and get any other info that may help this kitty get back home. I will update later today.
In the meantime, please consider getting your pets microchipped. You never known when they might slip out or dart out the door or something and the microchip could be the 1 thing that helps you get your fur baby back.
@wolfie_smiles mom told me that found.org is a free microchip registry and also this kitty may be an American Curl. ??
If anyone else has info about free or low cost microchip services please put it in the comments.

If you live in the metro Detroit area PLEASE share this. Anyone who comes forward as the owner will have to provide proof. If no owner is found (and we will try extensively), I will connect with a local no-kill 501C3 rescue to find him a home.
Oh, the fact that his owner declawed him totally sucks but at the end of the day if the owner is found, that’s the best place for him if it’s an otherwise loving & good home. I’m not here to judge as I myself have a 12 year old cat (Ginger) who is front declawed because back then I was not in rescue, was ignorant to the facts and that was the norm when you got your kitten spayed. I’ve learned from my mistake and have never and will never do it again. That said, if the owner is found, they will be given a copy of @pawproject DVD and politely educated if they are the original owners and were the ones who declawed him. ?
