We drove up the mountain with @cedarandpines, thinking maybe we’d luck out and get some gorgeous family photographs by a lake and a mountain backdrop, with some light swirly snow as opposed to the cold, heavy rain back down at 9,000 feet where our Airstream is parked for the next three weeks.
As we ascended, the rain changed quickly to snow, and thickened as we drove up. It was falling quickly, so we decided to halve our trip and stop at a turn off with a rental RVer, someone with a longbed trailer, a tiny Beemer that had it in its best interest to head back down the mountain.
We hiked up a trail and into the tall pines and played. I don’t think I stopped smiling.
I can’t wait to see the photos, and am in complete disbelief and gratitude that such a magical, once-in-a-lifetime moment for me, for our family, was captured on film by two really talented, kind, beautiful people.
This...THIS is why we live on the road, why traveling is for us. It’s a lot of work for us to keep it going, and we don’t often get to see the places we are because of work...but when we get these moments...they are everything to me...they are worth every bit of stress and pain and struggle. These moments, these bits of pure joy and beauty, are the ones that take my breath away.
