It is getting cooler in the evening. I like having tea in the cool night. This tea caddy is wrapped cherry bark. It made in Akita. This is one of “Kabazaiku”. Kabazaiku is Akita’s traditional wood crafts with more than 200 year history. “Kaba” means birch but birch bark is almost never used in practice, it used cherry bark. There are various theories about the name. Cherry bark naturally has good ventilation , moisture keeping and antibacterial capabilities. This texture is beautiful, isn’t it?
