Wajima-nuri is using a cloth in order to strengthen a wooden base. This technique is called “Nuno-kise”. It was a common way, but the number of lacquer which is using this technique are limited now. Then repeat painting lacquer and drying it again and again for 3-4 months. So Wajima-nuri is solidly. After these processes, decorate it for finishing.
輪島塗では補強のために布を使います。「布着せ」と呼ばれる、この工程をかつては一般的でしたが、取り入れる漆器は減っており、今では数ヶ所程度だそうです。その後、何度も漆塗りと乾燥を3〜4ヶ月かけて繰り返し土台が完成します。そして仕上げに入ります。土台づくりにとても時間と手間をかけるからこそ輪島塗は丈夫な漆器になるんですね。
